About Me

Hello! My name is Shagun Thakkar and I am a junior at Heritage High School. This year, I have studied Financial Technology through the Independent Study and Mentorship Program. I am passionate about exploring new ideas in finance, technology, and other STEM-related fields. As a student in the Independent Study and Mentorship Program, I have gotten the opportunity to be mentored by Mr. Jayakrishna Venkatesh. With research and advice from Mr. Venkatesh, we have realized that building a strong credit score is daunting, especially to those that do not have much knowledge on how to go about the process. Under the guidance of Mr. Venkatesh, I will make sure to deliver accurate information which will help people with their financial decisions.

About ISM

The Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) Program is an exciting, rigorous course offered at Frisco ISD high schools, designed for high-achieving juniors and seniors. In order to get accepted into the program, students must go through an intensive process including a detailed application consisting of teacher recommendations, an essay, and an interview.

Throughout the course, students have the opportunity to choose a topic of study, conduct extensive research, gain hands-on-experience from a mentor, and develop a final product. The ISM Program is extremely beneficial as it allows individuals to discover their passions, explore a topic of interest, gain interpersonal communication skills, and become immersed in experiences in a real world environment.
